The LIVE “Match the Hatch” Online Course is geared towards the beginner/intermediate angler. Understanding basic entomology is key to becoming an independent angler. Are you feeling overwhelmed when going into a fly shop and seeing hundreds, if not thousands, of flies with names that don’t make sense? Do you not know what flies to start your day with?
We’re taking some of this intimidation out and providing a course that shares ways of choosing the right fly for the specific water you are fishing. We’ll start with learning the basics of aquatic insect classifications, fly types, and the four fly categories. We’ll then share ideas on researching flies and the beginning of understanding hatch charts. Next, we’ll discuss the five factors of choosing the right fly. Finally, we’ll finish the course with an introduction to fly fishing entomology and share fly patterns that mimic specific stages of each insect.
